Simone is a provisional psychologist who is completing her master’s in clinical psychology at the University of Melbourne. She also holds a Master of Professional Psychology. She has previously worked at the Schema Therapy Institute Australia, University of Melbourne Psychology Clinic and the Deakin Virtual Clinic where she undertook diagnostic assessments and used evidence-based interventions to support young people experiencing various mental health conditions and life challenges. Through her current work with The Royal Women’s hospital Simone is supporting young parents through early infant attachment and the transition to parenthood.
Simone is a kind, empathic and directive practitioner who takes a collaborative and person-centred approach to treatment with clients, drawing from experience working with individuals and groups. Simone is adept in supporting people develop tools to cope with and recover from difficulties such as:
Simone has a keen interest in working with children and adolescents. In addition to her clinical experience with young people and parents, she has worked as a University Class Tutor and as part of the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme. Simone’s current research also explores changes in attachment over the lifespan.
Simone utilises a range of treatment modalities, some of which include components of Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Behaviour Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassionate Inquiry, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). She has a keen interest in understanding mind-body unity as it relates to how our most difficult experiences are stored in the body.
