Assessment

Why assessment?

Mental health assessment is a process through which a clinician works with you to clarify and develop questions related to your mental health (e.g. why are you here? why have you been feeling stressed?).  They use valid and reliable techniques and measures to find answers. Most people seeking individual therapy, relationship counselling, parenting consultation and family therapy will experience assessment during their treatment (e.g. including some mental health screening measures), most significantly in the early stages of treatment but often periodically through the treatment process to check on progress towards goals.

Formal clinical assessment

Whilst most people seen at Inner North will experience some preliminary assessment, there are circumstances where more targeted, diagnostic assessment is warranted or requested by the client. This will involve a more formal process including scheduled assessment sessions , providing more detailed information about the psychological tests being used (e.g. surveys, activities etc), and a formal assessment report. The types of assessments that can be provided at Inner North include:

  • Cognitive Assessment
  • Mental Health Diagnostic Assessment
  • Sensory Assessment
  • Occupational Therapy Assessment

Please contact Inner North if you are seeking a formal clinical assessment, and we will discuss clinicians and availability.
